Learning Support Teacher

Immediate Opening: Learning Support Teacher, 2025-2026 school year 

The position includes 3 days a week in the classroom (7:45 am-3:00 pm), as well as recess duties and additional time outside of this schedule for parent teacher conferences, and full professional development days. 
Position Description: The Learning Support Specialist provides strong supplementary learning support as an extra support for students identified through assessments and consultations with teachers and parents as qualifying for extra learning support. The learning support specialist provides targeted assessments, direct instruction to K-6 students in small groups, occasional whole class support, and consultation with teachers and parents. 

Learning support during the school day can take many forms, such as pull-out sessions of 30-40 minutes in small groups, a pull-out individualized program of study, or a “push-in” model of classroom-based support with an extra instructor or a specialized plan.
  • Manage a small caseload of students and provide direct student support through small group instruction.
  • Apply knowledge of learning disabilities and psychoeducational tests and assistive technology.
  • Review testing, update Educational Care Plans, and facilitate discussions related to learning differences.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum.
  • Deliver content and instruction to students by building strong relationships.
  • Support teachers in differentiating plans for students based on their unique learning profiles so that all students are engaged and challenged and each student has the opportunity for success.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop effectiveness of interventions and accommodations.
  • Supervise students during Recess and/or Bus Duty, ensuring safety, engagement, and positive social interactions 
  • Member of the Educational Care Team
Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in elementary education, early childhood education or special education. Applicants are expected to have at least one year of professional teaching experience. Familiarity with the usage and integration of technology is required. A strong alignment with Quaker testimonies and progressive education—in philosophy and teaching practice-- is expected.
